We turned a manual industry into a digital machine. Fixup is the blueprint for how we automate complex business logic for the Velocity tier.
The brief: killing the "quote fatigue"
The home improvement industry is still a "dinosaur" sector. Getting a quote usually means multiple phone calls, vague estimates, and weeks of waiting. Fixup's mission was to build a first-of-its-kind marketplace that provides instant, binding quotes and online booking for tradespeople—all driven by AI.
What we built: the automated workforce
We did not build a bare booking form. We architected a full-stack automated ecosystem using Next.js, Supabase, and OpenAI.
- AI-assisted scoping — replaced complex dropdowns with plain English. The AI interprets the job, asks logical follow-up questions, and generates a real-time quote from admin templates.
- Unified payment and payouts — Stripe Connect handles the full financial loop, from customer deposits to automated payouts for tradespeople.
- The "nervous system" — a custom notification engine that alerts tradespeople via SMS the moment a job is booked, for 24/7 responsiveness without human intervention.
- Triple-portal architecture — customer vault (bookings, payments, history), tradesperson hub (schedules, earnings), and a command centre for templates, pricing logic, and marketplace health.
The results: 90% automation
Fixup moved from a manual operation to a self-scaling booking machine:
- 90% autonomous — the AI handles the vast majority of scoping and quoting; roughly 10% stays human-in-the-loop for complex edge cases.
- Instant conversion — users move from explanation to paid booking in under three minutes—a process that traditionally takes days.
- Scalable operations — the backend lets a single admin manage hundreds of bookings and tradespeople with minimal manual data entry.
The verdict
Proof that Studio Nought does not only build brochure sites—we build autonomous businesses.
